Black Friday Shopping Option

While Black Friday is a day most shoppers look forward to, others stay away from it like the plague. So the question is: “Is the Black Friday shopping option for you?” Some would agree it isn’t worth the stress, the rush to find the item, waiting in long lines, or standing outside in the cold waiting for the stores to open.

In recent years, Black Friday has seen a decline in sales and shoppers. Why? People are turning to the Internet’s online shops for holiday savings. While some enjoy shopping online from the comfort of one’s home any day of the year, others enjoy the store atmosphere and the thrill of the hunt.

When one woman was asked what she would prefer; shopping online or shopping at department stores, she commented, “I love going to stores. I love to see the various selections of clothes and accessories, housewares, and linens. I want to be able to touch everything and look at all the colors and styles.” Although many women may agree with the need to touch and see items, Black Friday is not the day to browse and visit every department to determine what’s new!

Certainly, anyone who goes shopping during the year has a pretty good idea of what each department store has in stock. It’s no different on Black Friday, except there are huge crowds and a frantic rush to obtain an item that might be on sale for two hours. The pressure is great!

You can check ahead of time, if you need a specific item that might be on sale at the store but not online. For example, let’s assume you want to purchase an item. You check the online price and it is nowhere near the price advertised in your local newspaper. The reason for this is that this particular department store increases their online prices even though they are marked as sale items. So, very few of the items listed in the local newspaper are even advertised on the store’s website.

How do you take advantage of the sales while avoiding the stress? Decide what items you want to look for ahead of time. Arrive at the store about an hour prior to opening. When the store doors open, go straight to the department where your items are located. Try not to stop and browse. Stay focused, find your items, check out, and leave.

Quite frankly, online shopping has become a boon today and it is well worth leaving the frustration, stress, and angst behind. In fact, in the last few years more gift certificates were sold online than any other item. They are convenient and allow the recipient to buy what they really want for the holidays. Gift certificates also save time. You or the recipient are less likely to need returning items that are either too small.

Whether you choose to brave the crowded stores or shop online, you are sure to find the perfect gift by planning ahead. Weigh your options and needs to decide if the Black Friday shopping option is for you.

Gift Ideas For Grandparents

Searching for the right gift for grandparents can lead you down memory lane, in terms of the many product ideas geared towards treasuring memories. Grandparents tend to be sentimental because they don’t usually see their children and grandchildren every day. Children grow up very quickly and grandparent’s have a need to record all their grandchildren’s milestones from the first steps to the first Christmas and more.

One of the most affordable gift ideas for grandparents is a beautifully designed journal filled with all of their favorite memories such as weddings, birthdays, baby showers, graduations, vacations and other special moments. You and your children can get involved in selecting small pictures and mementos. Be creative and let your imagination run wild. You can purchase affordable embellishments. Consider giving your grandparents a yearly family journal made and written by those who love them.

Another way to use this journal is to have everyone in the family write several pages stating how the grandparents influenced them. You could talk about the fun times, trips, special activities, etc. Include photos or have young children draw pictures to illustrate the story.

If you have had a new addition to the family, consider putting a few items in a keepsake box to remind them of their newest little darling. Not only will the grandparents appreciate it but as your baby grows, they will feel very loved when they go to visit and the grandparents pull out the small cherished items.

One of the most appreciated gifts for grandparents are gifts which enable grandparents to interact with the grandchild. Many times grandparents don’t have the energy to keep up with young children. Having a few simple games on hand will help grandparents form lasting bonds with their grandchildren through play. The games mean even more if it’s something the grandparents played as a child. Here are a few suggested educational and fun tile games with an optional game box to hold all the tiles.

Memories are one of the best things you can give anyone. With grandparents, this is especially true. Consider giving your grandparents something that will help them make or relive family memories.
